Brooks Koepka makes feelings clear on reception | Golf News

Brooks Koepka has expressed his shock at the nice and cozy reception he obtained upon his return to the PGA Tour after leaving LIV Golf.

The five-time major winner is set to take part in the Farmers Insurance Open on Thursday, marking a swift return to the PGA Tour following his departure from LIV in December. After negotiating his exit from the rival circuit, Koepka rapidly turned a free agent and was permitted to rejoin the PGA Tour under the newly launched returning member program.

Koepka confessed that he felt “nervous” about his reintroduction to the PGA Tour when he arrived in San Diego earlier this week. However, he was greeted warmly by both gamers and caddies.

Koepka shared: “There were maybe 10 to 15 guys that came up and said something,” and “A lot of caddies. It’s tough to kind of put a number on it.”

He added: “Yeah, it was a lot of ‘good to see you, glad you’re back.’ I would say, yeah, maybe 15 guys. And then … 20 caddies, just random people, just people from the Tour. Yeah, that number jumps when you look at it that way outside of the players.

“I feel all people in this room would say the same factor: it is always good to really feel needed and to be accepted. I feel you see that from a little child to now, all people desires the same factor.”

Koepka revealed that the announcement of his PGA Tour return on Jan. 12 was warmly received across professional golf’s divided landscape.

“I used to be type of overwhelmed at the textual content messages that I obtained from guys, guys on both sides,” he said. “It meant a lot to me. And like I said, I’m grateful, I’m excited, and I just need to get back to enjoying golf.”

With media obligations and potentially awkward player interactions behind him for the week, Koepka is ready to let his performance do the talking. He’s set his sights on securing a victory during his comeback season.

“I’ve bought to play nicely. You play good golf, all the things takes care of itself,” he said. “I’d like to strive to get in those signature occasions and play nicely, but I perceive I’ve bought to earn that, and I’m trying ahead to that problem.

“I’ve got to work my tail of,f and I’m excited about that. We’ll see what happens, but I would love to come out and get a win.”
