Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez was released from prison on Sunday after spending 10 months incarcerated. The 43-year outdated was released on parole.

In February 2025, Velasquez was sentenced to 5 years. He was credited with 1,283 days served after he pleaded no contest to quite a few costs including tried homicide.

Velasquez chased and shot at a vehicle carrying Harry Goularte, who was accused of molesting Velasquez’s son at a daycare. Goularte’s stepfather, Paul Bender, was struck by one of the bullets struggling non-life-threatening accidents.

Velasquez, a two-time UFC titleholder, first received the heavyweight championship by knocking out Brock Lesnar in October 2010. He was defeated by Junior dos Santos in his first title protection. He received back the crown in December 2012, defeating dos Santos via unanimous determination. He efficiently defended the belt twice before dropping to Fabricio Werrdum in June 2015.

Velasquez last fought in February 2019, dropping to Francis Ngannou via knockout. He announced his retirement I October of that 12 months.
