Chris Eubank Jr has maintained a low profile about his long-term girlfriend, influenced by the tumultuous relationship of his dad and mom. Last week, Eubank Jr stunned followers with the announcement that he’s set to change into a father to twin boys next 12 months, given his usually personal personal life.

The son of boxing legend Chris Eubank Sr, he grew up in the public eye, with his household’s life documented on the TV collection At Home With The Eubanks. His father’s life was closely scrutinised in the media, with his divorce from spouse Karron in 2005 and subsequent chapter making headlines. The youthful Eubank, who was defeated by Conor Benn in their rematch on Saturday evening, confesses he has taken classes from his dad and mom’ experiences.

He said before his loss to Benn: “My private life should be private, that’s how I have always seen it. What people don’t know and what people don’t see, they cannot target, they cannot ruin, they cannot try to interfere with.

“There’s no benefit, in my opinion, to exposing personal relationships to the world. What advantages are there? If you exit and look at all these high-profile relationships, how many of them last? How many of them do not end up on the entrance web page of the newspapers?

“Cheating, scandal, divorce, whatever it is, social media does nothing but ruin relationships. I saw that from very early on, I experienced it with my mother and father. Their split was very public and it was hard to watch and it was embarrassing.

“Everybody knew that my dad and mom have been getting divorced and I knew, from that age, that – whatever relationship I obtained into – I wasn’t going to make it public. It’s pointless. It’s not like I’m hiding it. I just selected not to throw it on the market.”

The boxer was reunited with his father in April, just hours before his initial clash with Benn, which he won following a bruising 12-round battle. He subsequently revealed the news of his upcoming fatherhood to his dad during filming for a BBC documentary.

He said: “I had to announce it someday, I could not just pop up with two children on my shoulder. My birthday appeared like the right time to inform my father, and that was the scene that you noticed on the BBC documentary.

“I was filming, he didn’t know, the cameras were there, I wanted it to be captured, so it was a beautiful moment that we can relive for the rest of our lives. It’s a massive thing to have him back in my life, especially now, because he is their grandfather and that’s a very important relationship.

“I hate to suppose that two years in the past – when we hadn’t spoken for a couple of years – if I had a child then, what would I do? Now I do know he’s accessible to me, it is a great feeling.”
