City of Buffalo earns chicken wing world record…

In a finger-licking feat, the City of Buffalo has earned a new world record — just by noshing on its signature food.

The Western New York metropolis, the birthplace of buffalo wings, broke the Guinness World Record for the largest chicken wing eating competitors last week after 499 people gathered for the record-breaking chowdown at the Buffalo Convention Center.

The new record was set on Dec. 20 at the Revelas Family Foundation’s annual fundraiser “A Not So Silent Night,” which raises money and awareness for mental health.

An adjudicator from the record ebook was current to verify that the ravenous group had damaged the earlier record of 397, set by Amazon Web Services in 2018.

The festivities have been hosted by Drew Cerza, the self-proclaimed “Wing King” of Buffalo and founder of the National Buffalo Wing Festival.

Competitive eater George Chiger gained the competitors after devouring a whopping 36 wings in the allotted 5 minutes.

Buffalo’s Anchor Bar claims to have invented the now-famous bar food staple — a vinegar-cayenne pepper-hot sauce spin on chicken wings — in 1964.
