David Wrights Hall of Fame chances on rise after…

David Wright’s stock is rising among Hall of Fame voters, with time to spare.

The former Mets captain jumped to 14.8 p.c of the vote Tuesday, when official tallies have been launched for the Baseball Hall of Fame class for 2026.

Carlos Beltrán and Andruw Jones have been elected after surpassing the 75 p.c threshold needed for induction.

Wright acquired 8.1 p.c of the vote last 12 months (his second look on the poll).

Candidates stay on the poll for up to 10 years offered they obtain at least 5 p.c of the vote each 12 months. Wright acquired 6.2 p.c of the vote in his first 12 months of eligibility.

Jones acquired only 7.3 p.c of the vote his first 12 months on the poll and steadily climbed. This was his ninth 12 months on the poll.

Among third basemen, Scott Rolen acquired only 10.2 p.c of the vote his first 12 months on the poll. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in his sixth 12 months.

Wright’s profession, once on a regular Hall of Fame course, was curtailed by accidents — most notably spinal stenosis that compelled his retirement before he might full his eight-year contract with the membership.

Beltrán turned the sixth Hall of Famer raised in Puerto Rico, becoming a member of Roberto Alomar, Orlando Cepeda, Roberto Clemente, Edgar Martinez and Ivan Rodriguez. Puerto Rico is tied with Cuba for the Latin American nation with the most Hall of Famers.

Manny Ramirez acquired only 38.8 p.c of the vote in his tenth, and remaining, attempt at the Hall of Fame on the BBWAA poll.

Ramirez was twice suspended for performance-enhancing drug violations, damaging his candidacy.    

Félix Hernández, in his second 12 months on the poll, acquired 46.1 p.c of the vote.

Every candidate to obtain at least 43 p.c of the vote in his second 12 months has subsequently been elected to the Hall of Fame.

Eligible first-time gamers for the 2027 poll embody Buster Posey, Jay Bruce, Jon Lester and Kyle Seager. The 2028 eligible first-time gamers embody Albert Pujols, Yadier Molina, David Price and Stephen Strasburg.
