Ahead of his return as DI Mervin Wilson, Don Gilet has stood his ground and fired back at those who have criticised his character on Death in Paradise. Gilet was confirmed as Ralf Little’s substitute as the lead detective in the favored BBC sequence last yr. Asked how he discovered filming on the island during his debut, he said last yr: “It’s intense because you’ve got that heat from the start to the end of the day. It does reach a point where you become accustomed to it, but it requires an extra layer of concentration.
“You can’t flip the temperature down, but it’s a stunning backdrop to shoot against. Sometimes you may have to pinch your self and go look at where you might be and what you are doing. It’s a stunning place.
“I haven’t had much of a chance to venture out to see just how beautiful it is yet. Once you get used to the temperature, it’s a great job!”
