DeChambeau caused Ryder Cup gaffe in Team USA | Golf News

Keegan Bradley positioned important religion in Bryson DeChambeau to help secure Ryder Cup victory, but the LIV Golf star’s marketing campaign started poorly with a group chat mishap.

The Americans fell 15-13 to Luke Donald’s European squad in New York in September, though the ultimate rating would not totally seize the match’s narrative. Europe constructed a commanding benefit during the first two days before withstanding a decided American rally in Sunday’s singles matches.

Those expectations proved unfounded, as the two-time major winner managed only 1.5 factors across his 5 matches while Team USA endured its first home defeat since 2012.

Kevin Kisner, who labored as one of Bradley’s vice-captains, disclosed that DeChambeau’s difficult Ryder Cup started with a mistake that resulted in an unknown individual becoming a member of the workforce’s group chat.

“When we made the team, and we go to make the big group thread, he didn’t have an iPhone, so you couldn’t share videos or clips on the group thread because he had a Samsung,” Kisner said on the ‘Fore Play Podcast.’

“So Keegan basically told him he had to go get an iPhone to be able to get, be on the team. Like, ‘Dude, I’ve got so much stuff to share with you over the course of the next six weeks. Like you have to have an iPhone number, even if it’s a second phone.’

“So he goes, will get a new telephone quantity, shares it with Keegan, begins the group message, everybody begins commenting. Nobody hears from Bryson.

“He had told Keegan the wrong number by one digit, so some random person in America is getting all these comments from the U.S. Ryder Cup team for 30 minutes.”

Kisner went on to say: “So that was a hilarious start to our Ryder Cup. I think the guy even commented, if I remember correctly, like, ‘Hey, I don’t know what any of this is, but good luck.’

“I believe even any person commented back, like, ‘Yeah, whatever, Bryson, humorous joke. And then the man was like, ‘No, severely, I do not know who these people are.'”

DeChambeau, who holds a 1-2 report in Ryder Cup appearances, is anticipated to have another shot at redemption the next yr at Adare Manor in the Republic of Ireland, where he’ll be hoping for a far less eventful week both on the golf green and away from it.
