Delta Air Lines to end all flights to this US metropolis. Here’s why | Latest Travel News

Come November, a major Texas airport will lose its service from Delta Air Lines.

Flights to Midland International Air & Space Port in Midland will discontinue after Nov. 8, town of Midland wrote in a assertion on Aug. 25.

Delta told MassLive that the choice to discontinue this route was made to “align with consumer demand.”

“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and remain committed to serving Central Texas as the leading global carrier in Austin,” the airline said.

This news comes after Delta announced that it was “deepening its commitment to Central Texas” by launching three new nonstop routes from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) which permits vacationers to go to Denver, Colorado, Columbus, Ohio and Kansas City, Missouri.

The airline also said it was growing companies on two present routes from San Francisco, California and Indianapolis, Indiana.

On Aug. 22, the airline company reported that it serves almost 30 locations from Austin and has carried over 1 million passengers to and from Austin during 2025, which is a 12% increase year-over-year.

Despite this change, Midland residents will still have non-stop service to Austin via Southwest Airlines, town said in a assertion. The airport also provides non-stop flights to Dallas, Houston, Las Vegas, Nevada, Denver and Phoenix, Arizona.

Councilwoman Robin Poole, the Midland City Council’s liaison to the Airports Department, expressed her disappointment but maintained a constructive outlook for the airport’s future.

“While I am disappointed to learn that Delta Airlines will no longer be servicing our airport, it does not diminish our commitment to ensuring Midland International Air & Space Port continues to thrive and meet the needs of our residents and those traveling through the Permian Basin,” Poole said in the press release. “Midlanders can expect us to remain focused on supporting improvements and expansion efforts that will strengthen our airport’s role as a vital hub for our community and our region.”
