Dolly Parton is headed to the big stage. The nation singer is all set for her Broadway manufacturing, “Dolly: A True Original Musical.” Though she won’t be performing, she’s thrilled for the show that will tell the story of her life.
“Now, this isn’t a story about sparkle and shine on the outside,” Dolly said in an Instagram video. “It’s about where I really come from, what I’ve lived, what I’ve lost, what I’ve loved, and how I’ve found my way.”
The 80-year-old country icon said that the musical will be narrated in her “own words and through the music that’s been part of [her] every step of the journey.” This news comes after Dolly Parton addressed health concerns that left fans worried.
The Jolene hitmaker also hinted that she’s writing new hits for the production and that the show will feature some of her most popular tracks, too.
“This really is a dream come true,” she said. “I can’t wait to share it with all of you.”
The production, directed by Tony Award winner Bartlett Sher, commences in New York City with previews this December and opens on January 19, 2027, which is her birthday. Pre-sale ticket access starts on Wednesday.
According to the musical’s website, the production will entail the singer’s greatest hits, such as “Jolene,” “I Will Always Love You,” “9 to 5” and “Coat of Many Colors.”
The musical first debuted in Nashville last year and has undergone major changes since then. The news of Dolly’s highly anticipated Broadway production comes after grim news that left fans worried. The country singer canceled her “Dolly: Live in Las Vegas” residency last year due to ongoing health issues.
“I have some good news and a little bad news,” she told fans in a social media video in May. “The good news is I’m responding really well to meds and treatments, and I’m improving every day.”
However, the “dangerous news,” she said, was that “it is gonna take a little while” until she is “up to stage efficiency stage.”
The singer first shared her health struggles in September 2025 when she dropped out of an look at Dollyworld due to kidney stones.
