DWTS Bobby Bones admits Tom Bergerons comments | TV Shows
Former Dancing with the Stars contestant Bobby Bones has admitted that he had a “minor meltdown” due to comments Tom Bergeron made about him.
Radio star Bobby received the much-loved dance competitors in 2018; however, he has since returned his glitterball trophy after the show’s former host, Tom, made some sudden comments about him.
In an interview with Parade, Tom said he discovered Bobby’s win to be the most stunning second during his tenure as host on the show from 2005-2019.
“The thing that shocked me most was a win – Bobby Bones. That was when I went, ‘Uhh,'” Tom said. “Bobby Bones was the first time I was like, ‘Ouch.’ No disrespect to Bobby. He would probably say the same thing.”
Following on from these comments, Bobby spoke out on his podcast, Bobbycast, to clarify how they made him really feel.
The 45-year-old told listeners that these comments triggered him to have a “minor meltdown,” which in flip led him to return his trophy.
“It hurt my feelings so much,” Bobby admitted, including, “I was so surprised at his reaction to the question of who’s one of the most surprising eliminations. They didn’t even ask him about me. Now, had they said the question of, ‘Who won that is surprising?’ I’m all here. I’m the most surprising ever. I know that. I have sort of a cool title. I have total awareness of my entire situation. But it wasn’t.”
Continuing, Bobby reiterated that Tom’s comments upset him, and that while he is used to being in a world full of opinions, it was robust listening to those phrases from the previous DWTS host.
“I’m like, ‘Oh my god.’ It hurt my feelings so much. I have a job where I give opinions all the time,” Bobby said. “Whenever I create controversy, which I do at times — sometimes manufactured, sometimes not — I’m good because I know I’ve signed up for this. When he did that, it hurt my feelings, because that was somebody [who] was so helpful to me during the show, because he knew I was struggling.”
Bobby additional explained that he was “made to feel I was really bad at dancing,” but he did observe that the show’s manufacturing company has reached out to say that if he needs his trophy returned to him, they will kind that for him.
However, since Bobby shared his upset over Tom’s comments, the 70-year-old tv star has reached out to him.
“It wasn’t my intention to hurt your feelings. My ‘ouch’ was based on my honest feeling that your win spoke to a need to address the balance between judge and viewer voting,” Tom supposedly said.
