Eddie Hearn makes Anthony Joshua future point with | Boxing News
Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has confirmed that Anthony Joshua can be afforded all the time he wants to decide his future in the game following the devastating car crash that claimed the lives of two of his closest associates.
Discussing Joshua’s prospects with Sky Sports News, Hearn said: “That’s not a conversation that I think anyone’s comfortable in having in terms of asking what could be next or what he’s thinking.
“That’s one thing that has to come next. You need somebody to have their time and to just be left alone, actually, to get over, like I said, not just a horrible incident, but just one that you may never put together for in life. You never, ever need to see anyone you already know in any type of this state of affairs.
“It’s heartbreaking. And when the time is right, I believe he will make his decision. You’ll hear it from him. The future of Anthony Joshua will be told by Anthony Joshua. And that’s the only voice you should listen to in that respect.
“And we’ll give him his time to make that resolution and to heal particularly in many different methods. What occurred to him will not be regular and it is heartbreaking for everyone concerned, notably the households of Sina and Latz, who have been so extremely cherished.”
He added: “I feel AJ, as we have seen in the past on boxing-related stuff, he is always a type of brave-faced man.”
“This, of course, could be very different to that. But I do know that he’ll take his time and he’ll need his time bodily and mentally, emotionally, spiritually before he makes a resolution on his future.
“I do think that he’s going to want to return to boxing, but that’ll be his decision when the time’s right. It’s certainly not a conversation that I’ll be having with him anytime soon.
“The only dialog now is [asking]; ‘Are you okay’? Our ideas are, of course, not just with the households of Sina and Latz, but with AJ as properly. We pray for him every day.”
The devastating incident in Nigeria occurred shortly after Joshua’s victory over Jake Paul in their much-anticipated conflict on December 19 in Miami, United States.
