He believed that we are all sacred and redeemable.”
She added: “He made films about incarcerated moms and their kids, about people with mental illness and substance use disorders, about teens living in homeless shelters, foster care, and detention centers, about people who were at the bottom and trying to climb up. Tributes have since poured in for him, with one person writing: “I am a loss for what to say in the face of such an unspeakable tragedy. I am thinking of their children Bobbi and Carver who have lost their father at tender ages. I am thinking of Cheryl who has lost her love, her partner, her best friend. I am thinking of Brian who deserved better. Rest in peace dear Brian. I only want to remember you laughing with us all during the play, so supportive of Cheryl and our cast and crew, so full of love.”
