Former CIA Director John Brennan sued the Trump administration on Wednesday, naming as defendants Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, FBI Director Kash Patel, and President Donald Trump himself.
“Administration officials from the Acting Attorney General to the FBI Director and the Counselor overseeing the Brennan investigations have been publicly declaring Director Brennan a criminal, not only before securing a conviction in court but even before a full investigation and an indictment,” wrote Brennan’s legal professionals on Wednesday.
“And, certain officials in the Department of Justice are engaging in demonstrably irregular prosecutorial activity in order to gin up a case that will satisfy the President’s direction.”
“Officials of this Administration have shown an advertent disdain for their preservation obligations,” they also wrote.
Brennan requested a federal choose in Washington to order Trump and his workers, along with top prosecutors from Miami who have investigated him and intelligence group chiefs, to protect their data about him.
He says the court ought to also order the preservation of data for any broader “grand conspiracy” investigation the Justice Department might pursue, wanting back at former federal officers concerned in legal investigations around Trump over the years.

Just this week, it was reported that the previously high-ranking Justice Department official John Yoo could be consulting with the workplace on a case probably involving Brennan. Previously, Brennan’s attorneys said a prosecutor told them the previous CIA director was a goal of investigations by the prosecutor’s workplace.
Those embrace the so-called grand jury investigation, which has prompted a flurry of grand jury subpoenas and an inquiry into whether or not Brennan lied to Congress about an intelligence report on Russian interference in the 2016 election. Brennan has repeatedly maintained his innocence.
