Lindsey Graham has been ripped into by Fox News viewers after he made a “disgusting” remark about World War 2.

On March 22, Graham joined Shannon Bream on Fox News Sunday, where he urged President Donald Trump to seize Kharg Island to weaken the Iranian regime.

Kharg Island is the financial spine of Iran, serving as the terminal for roughly 90% to 94% of the nation’s crude oil exports. Therefore, if the United States have been to seize the island, it’s thought that America may gain strategic leverage and pressure the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

However, while Graham was discussing Kharg Island, he talked about Iwo Jima, the location of a well-known World War 2 battle between the US and Japan.

Iwo Jima was a vital battle for the United States in beating Japan, however, roughly 7,000 American servicemen died during this battle, with around 19,000 injured.

Discussing Kharg Island, Graham said, “Here’s what I tell President Trump, keep it up for a few weeks, take Kharg Island, with all of the resources they have to produce oil. Control that island.”

However, Bream responded by asking Graham whether or not this offensive would contain US troops, declaring that The Atlantic said they might face “ballistic missile strikes, drone attacks and petrochemical smoke.”

The South Carolina senator rapidly responded to the feedback, telling Bream that he is “tired of armchair quarterbacking,” and praising the lacking so far, before he said, “God bless the fallen.”
