President Donald Trump slammed Iran’s new supreme leader, which sparked shocking backlash from critics.

On February 28, President Donald Trump confirmed in a video posted on his Truth Social platform that the U.S. and Israel have launched army operations against Iran, which led to the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. On March 8, Iran announced the appointment of its new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, the son who inherited the place.

“He’s going to have to get approval from us,” Trump threatened, in a social media post shared by FOX News after a ‘wicked’ Trump ally shocked viewers with an admission on the Iran struggle.

The caption read: “President Trump warns Iran’s new supreme leader won’t ‘last long’ without U.S. approval as the Assembly of Experts moves toward selecting Khamenei’s successor.”

“If he doesn’t get approval from us, the president initially told ABC News in an interview on the same day, before persevering with, “He’s not going to last long.

“We want to make sure that we don’t have to go back every 10 years, when you don’t have a president like me that’s not going to do it.”

“I don’t want people to have to go back in five years and have to do the same thing again, or worse, let them have a nuclear weapon,” the president completed.

Conservatives turned to their socials and slammed President Trump, arguing that he didn’t have the authority to decide Iran’s new Supreme Leader, nor does Iran need his approval.

One particular person said, “If a sovereign country needs Washington approval just to choose its leader, then let us stop pretending the world runs on international law. It clearly runs on power.”

Another particular person wrote, “When a nation’s leadership supposedly needs approval from Washington, it shows the reality of global politics. Power decides more than international law.”

A 3rd added, “The U.S. needs to finish its operation and let the Iranian people decide what comes next. Crippling infrastructure and their ability to produce WMDs was the goal — Trump needs to stay that course and let the next leader know what’s coming if they go down that road again.”

Despite the president having his critics, Trump did have a supporter who agreed with him and said, “Trump made it clear he’s not letting Iran install another leader who will threaten the region or the U.S. again. That kind of America First pressure is exactly why many supporters believe Trump keeps hostile regimes in check.”

This comes after Fox News anchor Brian Kilmeade claimed Trump told him he was “not happy” with the choice on March 8.

Kilmeade shared footage of the president responding to a journalist’s inquiry about his expectations of Iran. According to the president, he sought unconditional give up from the nation.

“It’s where they cry or when they can’t fight any longer,” the president said. “We’ve wiped out their leadership numerous times already.

“So what we’re doing is a great factor, not only for our nation and not only for Israel, not only for the Middle East, but for the world,” he added. “When this ends, we’re going to have a a lot safer world.”
