Secretary of State Marco Rubio warned there is perhaps delays with the new peace deal with Iran, which irked conservatives.
On May 23, Fox News shared an online clip of Rubio, 54, as he addressed reporters in New Delhi, India. The Secretary of State had beforehand given a speech at the US Embassy Annex Dedication Ceremony. Rubio mentioned the current peace negotiations between the United States and Iran. He agreed with the calls for of President Donald Trump, 79, that the nation in the Middle East shouldn’t have nuclear weapons.
However, Rubio revealed that any update on the peace talks may probably take up to a week. This comes after Iran threatened to “extend the war beyond the region” if extra strikes are launched against the nation.
Rubio said, “There’s been some progress done. Some progress made, even as I speak to you now. There’s some work being done. There is a chance later today, tomorrow, in a couple of days, we may have something to say.
“This issue wants to be solved.”

Viewers took to social media to slam Rubio’s comments, arguing there might not be a peace deal made.

Meanwhile, Iran has pushed forward their six-point peace proposal to the U.S., in a bid to end the war. On May 19, Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi outlined the conditions, including the end of the Strait of Hormuz blockade imposed on the U.S. American troops, who will withdraw from regions bordering Iran, and the U.S. will foot the bill for war-related damages.
Trump then decided to stand down from a major planned strike on Iran, citing “critical negotiations” underway on this new deal.
However, on May 23, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps delivered a sharp message in response to President Trump and Vice President JD Vance, 41, suggesting potential military action if peace talks fail again.
“We didn’t deploy the full capability of the Islamic Revolution against them. But now, if aggression against Iran is repeated, the regional conflict that was promised, this time, it is going to prolong past the area, and our crushing blows in locations you may’t think about will cut back you to ashes,” the IRGC said.
