Secretary of War Pete Hegseth fumbled his phrases on digicam, which conservatives seen during his press briefing.
On February 28, President Donald Trump announced the United States had partnered with Israel to launch army airstrikes against Iran. As the nation retaliated, Iran appointed a new supreme chief, Mojtaba Khamenei, after his late predecessor, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed during the initial strikes of the struggle. Meanwhile, oil costs have skyrocketed after the Strait of Hormuz, the exit level for ships in the Persian Gulf, remained closed amid the battle in Iran.
On March 13, Fox News interrupted its daily programming and livestreamed Hegseth’s press briefing at the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia.
Hegseth was requested about Trump’s upcoming assembly with the General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party, Xi Jinping.
The reporter requested, “My first question is, President Trump is scheduled to meet with Xi Jinping in a couple of weeks. How much support, if any, has China been given by the Iranian regime?
“And for the second query, I do know President Trump is asking for an unconditional give up from Iran.

“Given that the U.S. is partnering with Israel on this whole operation, is Iran expected to meet the demands of both countries? Or just the U.S.? And what are those demands?”
Hegseth stuttered as he blurted out, “We’re proud to partner with the incredibly capabilities the Iranians…”
The protection secretary stopped himself abruptly, as if catching his mistake.
Hegseth corrected what he said and went on, “Or excuse me, the Israelis have. But our objectives are our objectives. When those are met, as we meet those, we’ll set the tempo of when those are met.”
Viewers caught the on-air blub and mocked Hegseth on social media. They claimed he was making the president look dangerous, who has repeatedly boasted about the army strengths of Israel and the U.S.
One individual wrote, “The Secretary of Defense accidentally partnered with the enemy mid-sentence and then just kept going like the microphone didn’t catch that.”
Another individual added, “How to struggle to string two sentences together that literally mean nothing. Verbal gaffe amidst a word salad bonanza is quite the feat.”
A 3rd said, “He has mastered the art of s—talking. Just like Trump.”
Although Hegseth had his critics, he also had a supporter who cheered him on, “Our objectives are our objectives, bro. Trust me.”

During the Pentagon briefing, Hegseth told reporters that the U.S. was prevailing “at a pace the world has never seen before” and that “President Trump holds the card.
He believed President Trump would “decide the tempo of this battle.”
Hegseth also discussed the Iranian regime, “They’ve gone underground, cowering — that’s what rats do.”
The secretary further asserted Iran’s new supreme leader is “wounded and doubtless disfigured,” highlighting there was “no video” when Khamenei delivered his first statement on Thursday.
Hegseth closed, “It’s a mess for them. Who’s in charge?”
