Fox News was interrupted following a breaking news section on the Middle East.

Viewers had been left tense as the channel introduced updates on the fast-moving scenario. Smoke was reported close to the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain, a key American base, following joint U.S.–Israeli strikes on Iranian targets.

The disaster escalated shortly, with officers warning of doable additional threats as tensions between Washington, Tel Aviv, and Tehran reached a new high.

Presenter Jennifer Griffin said, “Bahrain, of course, home to the U.S. Navy’s fifth fleet. We are hearing reports that there is smoke rising on the horizon in the vicinity of that base.”

The United States and Israel have launched a sweeping joint military offensive against Iran, in what American officials have called “Operation Epic Fury” and Israel has referred to as “Operation Roaring Lion.”

The coordinated strikes reportedly targeted multiple Iranian military sites, including missile launchers and key strategic facilities.

Donald Trump had previously warned Tehran that the U.S. could step in militarily if deadly anti-regime protests intensified and if Iran refused to agree to a far-reaching nuclear deal.

Following the strikes, he said the action was aimed at removing what he described as imminent threats posed by the Iranian regime, urging forces to stand down or face severe consequences.

The Israel Defense Forces released video footage appearing to show airstrikes hitting missile launchers in western Iran.

In a statement, the IDF said it had struck hundreds of Iranian military targets under the direction of military intelligence, adding that its aerial defence systems were actively working to intercept incoming threats.

Explosions were reported in Tehran and other areas, while Iranian officials condemned the operation as a violation of national sovereignty and vowed a decisive response, raising fears the conflict could spiral further.

“Within the ‘Roaring Lion’ operation, the IDF struck with the direction of IDF intelligence, tons of of Iranian army targets, including missile launchers in western Iran,” the IDF’s statement read.

“Alongside the IAF’s strikes in Iran, the Aerial Defense Array is presently figuring out and intercepting threats fired from Iran toward the State of Israel,” the IDF added.
