Fox News host Will Cain has said his wife was “crying” after watching the American males’s hockey group win gold at the Olympics for the first time in practically half a century.

He wrote on X, “My wife at 9:30: Didn’t know there was a hockey game and didn’t know there are three periods.”

Will, 50, added, “My wife at 10:00: Crying and looking up all facts about the Hughes brothers.”

The tweet was a direct reference to the massive win of the hockey group that beat Canada 2-1 in the gold medal last at the Milan Cortina Olympics on Sunday after Jack Hughes scored less than two minutes into time beyond regulation.

It was the nation’s third males’s title at the Games and its first since the so-called “remarkable result on Ice” in 1980 – 46 years to the day of the upset over the mighty Soviet Union, too.

After Will’s tweet, many followers might relate to his wife’s emotions, as one wrote, “Hope many Americans are thinking…Goodbye @NFL and Hello @NHL.”

Another tweeted, “To be fair… I anticipated waking up grudgingly to watch the game with my husband this morning.

“But I believe all of us wives broke down when Jack Hughes talked about how proud he’s to win for America and how a lot he loves his nation. Then the Gaudreu tribute and his children being on the ice wrecked me.”

A third agreed, “Taking the Gaudreau children on the market broke me.”

Werenski and Matthew Tkachuk carried a Johnny Gaudreau No. 13 jersey around the ice in tribute to the beloved player who was killed along with his brother in 2024.

Gaudreau’s parents, Guy and Jay, his widow, Meredith, and their oldest children were in attendance. It was Johnny Jr.’s second birthday and he was brought on the ice with older sister Noa for the team photo.

“We just needed to show the Gaudreau household our assist,” Brady Tkachuk said of the player known as “Johnny Hockey.”

He added, “He was so close to and pricey to a lot of us, and we miss him dearly. We did it for him.”
