A Fox News host discovered himself corrected on air after a visitor clarified the circumstances surrounding the deadly taking pictures of an intensive care nurse in Minneapolis.

Alex Jeffrey Pretti, 37, was shot and killed by a US Border Patrol officer on Saturday, according to his household, who described him as deeply compassionate and troubled by President Donald Trump‘s immigration enforcement actions in his metropolis. The Illinois-born US citizen had joined protests against ICE operations, his kinfolk disclosed, though he had assured them he would exercise warning at any demonstrations.

Following the incident, the Department of Homeland Security acknowledged the person was shot after he “approached” Border Patrol officers with a 9mm semiautomatic handgun. Authorities didn’t make clear whether or not Pretti had drawn or displayed the weapon.

His household confirmed he possessed a handgun and held a legitimate hid carry allow in Minnesota, though that they had never witnessed him carrying it. During a Fox News phase with contributor Ted Justice Williams, host Jon Scott questioned, “The question I’ve asked a number of times today, Ted, is who goes to a protest and brings a gun? I mean, was he not asking for some kind of trouble in that situation?”.

Williams, however, pushed back on the premise: “I really don’t think so, Jon. Look, l’ve been on this channel on numerous occasions where we talk about the second amendment and the right to carry firearms. He continued, “He didn’t do anything with that firearm. That man is dead. And there’s a question mark as to whether he should have been killed in these circumstances.”

Following the circulation of a video clip from the report on X, quite a few viewers highlighted the distinction with Fox News’ coverage of Kyle Rittenhouse, who fatally shot Joseph Rosenbaum, 36, and Anthony Huber, 26, and wounded Gaige Grosskreutz, 26, during civil unrest in Kenosha, Wisconsin, on August 25, 2020, and was subsequently hailed as a national hero on the community. Others argued that Pretti wasn’t brandishing a weapon and should not have been killed.

One critic commented, “These conservatives are looking really embarassing right about now. Especially with how they defended Rittenhouse.” Another person posted, “Fox: We hate the Constitution now because Jeffrey Epstein’s best friend told us we should.” A 3rd particular person shared, “You realize how you sound? – Who goes out wearing short skirt. She’s asking for it.”

Another remarked, “Defensive shots… while he was on the ground, in his back. These people will murder an ICU nurse with no record and go on TV and lie to the world about it. We are dealing with pure evil. Maybe the Fox Host should ask Kyle Rittenhouse this question,” another person commented. One person posted on X, “Oh spare me the fake concern, Fox clown armed rioter shows up to attack feds and suddenly it’s ‘who brings a gun to a protest?’

“The same hypocrites who scream 2A when it is their aspect. He wasn’t asking for bother, he was begging for it and obtained precisely what he earned. Cry more durable.” Another commented, “Who goes to a protest with a firearm? Literally every Republican we all know.”

Pretti’s father, Michael, spoke of his son, saying: “He cared about people deeply and he was very upset with what was occurring in Minneapolis and throughout the United States with ICE, as hundreds of thousands of other people are upset.

“He thought it was terrible, you know, kidnapping children, just grabbing people off the street. He cared about those people, and he knew it was wrong, so he did participate in protests.”
