A Fox News host stroked Donald Trump‘s ego as he gushed about the president’s athleticism during a new interview for one of the community’s radio reveals.

Fox News host Brian Kilmeade interviewed Trump on Thursday’s version of Fox News Radio’s The Brian Kilmeade Show forward of the GOP chief’s upcoming summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska on Friday, August 15.

The leaders are set to focus on ending the Ukraine battle after three and a half years. Trump told reporters on his approach to the assembly on Air Force One that “the war’s got to stop and the killing’s got to stop.”

During his interview, Kilmeade used Trump’s athleticism as the setup for a query about the summit.

He told the president, “I know you’re a big athlete. You not only watch sports, but you also play sports. You always have to try to pre-think what’s going to happen. You have to picture how it’s going to happen, so you know how to act.

“So the one factor that some people have said is, the inducement that might get his consideration is financial incentives. Are you strolling into that room with financial incentives for Russia in order to stop the preventing?”

Trump replied, “Well, I’d relatively not say because I don’t need to play my hand in public, but whatever my hand is, financial incentives. And disincentives could also be more important in a approach, but incentives economically.

“Russia’s got a tremendous potential. They have the largest piece of land by far. It’s massive. It’s got great wealth on it.”

Kilmeade continued, “But all they do is oil. All they do is oil and gas. They can’t even grow — they can’t even farm.”

Trump said, “Well, but that’s OK. Oil and gas are a very profitable business. That’s better than I make shirts, T-shirts.”

The president added, “Oil and gas, if you say that’s all they do, if you’re going to have one business, that’s good. That’s the business to have, and they have it.

“So, they’ve a lot of benefits going over most international locations, because of the fact that they’ve oil and gasoline in huge portions, like we do. And, yes, financial — financial sanctions are very highly effective and financial incentives are very highly effective, both.”

Trump is an avid golfer, and his time on the course repeatedly went viral this summer. He played sports in high school, and played beach volleyball once in 1996.

The president continued to tell reporters on Air Force One that the US is the “hottest nation” in the world, and Putin “desires a piece of that” because Russia is “not scorching, economically.”

A reporter asked if territorial swaps are on the table, to which Trump said, “They shall be mentioned, but I’ve bought to let Ukraine make that resolution, and I suppose they’re going to make a correct resolution.”

“But I’m not right here to negotiate for Ukraine,” Trump said, including that if he weren’t president, Putin would take all of Ukraine, “but he’s not going to do it.”

When asked about the possibility of the U.S. providing security guarantees for Ukraine, Trump replies, “Maybe.”

Following a meeting on Thursday with top government officials on the summit, Putin said in a short video released by the Kremlin that the Trump administration was making “fairly energetic and honest efforts to stop the hostilities.”

He also said the Trump administration wanted to “attain agreements that are of curiosity to all events concerned” amid claims Trump might offer Putin access to U.S. sources.
