Fox News host Jesse Watters drew criticism after recounting on air that a lady confronted him while he was ready to buy a bagel.

Watters described the encounter during a phase on Fox News, saying the lady acknowledged his voice and accused him of spreading false news on tv.

“And I said, ‘Oh?’ And she says, ‘You are the one that spews lies on TV.'”

Watters said his spouse was with him at the time and stepped into the exchange.

“I mean, I’m like Limbaugh, I’m right 99.8% of the time, but my wife’s there and she says, ‘Do you talk to everyone like that, the way you talk to my husband?'” He said.

“And, and, and she’s like, ‘Go on, go inside and get your bagel.'”

The Fox News persona then characterised the lady as unstable.

“And the woman starts shaking,” Watters said. “You know how mentally ill they are, and she’s like totally disconnected from reality. They don’t know how to talk to people, like, like miserable, angry, crazy.”

The clip went viral on X, where some customers questioned whether or not the confrontation occurred as described.

One reply bluntly said, “Never happened. You’re a f–king psycho @JesseBWatters!”

Others sided with Watters or used the story to assault people who confront public figures over politics.

One person wrote, “Everyone in the world that takes politics this seriously, thinking they will ever actually make a difference making scenes like that in public need to go through exactly what I did. 2 Brain cancers, 7 days under +chemo + . You’ll do weird things like appreciate, uh anything?”

Another commenter said, “You should have thanked her for watching your shows and how that helped you buy that bagel. Auto meltdown.”
