Vice President J.D. Vance blamed the Biden administration for the rise in oil and fuel costs, a transfer that didn’t sit nicely with conservatives.
On March 18, Fox News interrupted its daily programming to live-stream Vance‘s rally in Auburn Hills, Michigan. The vice president spoke about the battle against Iran, which commenced when the United States and Israel partnered together and launched their navy strikes against the nation in the Middle East.
This comes as President Donald Trump focused the BBC and filed a movement to dismiss his $10 billion defamation lawsuit associated to the community’s edit of a Panorama documentary.
During the rally, a reporter said to Vance, “Thank you for coming here to Detroit. Thank you for taking questions. We’re seeing gas prices rising at home. With what’s going on in Iran and the Strait of Hormuz, what is the administration doing to help keep gas prices down? And where do you see gas prices going here in the near future?”

Vance blamed former President Joe Biden repeatedly as he ranted, “This is a temporary blip. What happened under the Biden administration, the gas prices were high for four years. Gas prices are higher right now, and frankly, they’re not even as high as they were during certain parts of the Biden administration.
“Because of what’s going on in the Middle East, it isn’t going to last perpetually. We’re going to take care of business. We’re going to come back home, and when that occurs, you are going to see power costs go back down to actuality.”
Viewers took to social media to defend Biden against Vance’s statements, arguing that the Trump administration should take responsibility for the surge in oil and gas prices.
One viewer cynically said, “Is ‘Joe Biden’ in D.C. today as Americans are paying more for food, healthcare, fuel, and tariffed, riddled items? Today?”
Another viewer added, “The Wall Street Journal uncovered in a ballot months in the past that Americans view this is trump’s economic system, not Biden’s, and that everybody but the hardcore MAGA extremists have stopped shopping for this President Biden whataboutism.”
A 3rd wrote, “The ‘Biden’ gaslighting is reaching epic dip—t stage.”
Despite the vice president having his critics, he also had a supporter who agreed with his comments and shared, “VP Vance is on the market in Michigan making the strong case for Trump’s pro-growth financial agenda. It’s all about jobs, power independence, and placing America first again. Solid transfer after Biden.”

At the outset of the war on Feb. 28, Iran vowed to attack any oil tanker attempting to pass through the Strait, leading to a historic disruption of the oil market. European allies, including Australia and Germany, have outright refused to send warships to the Persian Gulf to help escort tankers.
Despite fixed navy strikes from the U.S. and Israel against Iran, the price of Brent crude, the global benchmark for crude oil costs, has been surging at around $100 per barrel. U.S. fuel costs are also rising as Iran paralyzes the essential delivery lane.
