Fox News viewers could not always be the largest followers of Stephen Colbert, but some turned on Donald Trump after he celebrated the official end of the comic’s late-night show on May 21.

Now, after Colbert’s ultimate episode aired, with his secret ultimate visitor revealed to be Paul McCartney and cameos from a bevy of other celebrities he had beforehand saved under wraps, Trump wasted no time celebrating the news on social media.

Taking to Truth Social, he wrote, “Colbert is finally finished at CBS. Amazing that he lasted so long! No talent, no ratings, no life. He was like a dead person. You could take any person off the street, and they would be better than this total jerk. Thank goodness he’s finally gone!”

However, his message has since drawn rebuke from even loyal Fox News viewers.

“Colbert’s show was one of the top performers in late-night TV, yet it was still canceled over ‘ratings concerns.’ Anyone who doesn’t see this as an attack on free speech isn’t thinking clearly,” another wrote.

Colbert’s ultimate episode featured visitor cameos by Bryan Cranston, Paul Rudd, Tim Meadows, Tig Notaro, and Ryan Reynolds, who all appeared in the studio viewers, before McCartney was revealed to be his true ultimate visitor.
