Fulton County, the Gift That Keeps on Giving—Judge | Political News
Fulton County is back in the headlines Wednesday. You bear in mind the Georgia county, where TDS-riddled District Attorney Fani Willis tried to “get” Trump on costs of attempting to overturn the 2020 election outcomes in the state? That didn’t go nicely.
NEW: Fani Willis Was Just Officially Disqualified From the Prosecution of Donald Trump
Now the county election board is under fire from a Senior Superior Court choose for their refusal to observe the law:
A choose has discovered the Fulton County Commission in civil contempt of court for refusing to comply with an order to appoint the local Republican Party’s two nominees for the Fulton County Election Board.
Superior Judge David Emerson has ordered the commission to pay a high quality of $10,000 per day beginning Friday until the physique approves the two nominees.
“The court finds beyond reasonable doubt that the Board of Commissioners has failed to comply with this court’s order,” Emerson wrote in a ruling.

The board has thus far refused to seat the nominees because they questioned election irregularities in the past. The choose wasn’t having it:
In the 17-page ruling, Senior Superior Court Judge David Emerson said the fines — levied against the board as a group — will start Friday at midday. Fines would stop once the commission appoints the GOP nominees. Emerson also awarded attorney’s charges to the Fulton County Republican Party, which filed go well with against the commissioners.
In his ruling, Emerson called the commissioners “stubbornly litigious” and said they “acted in bad faith” by not seating the Republican nominees, even after he ordered them to do so.
Board members failed to approve the nominees, both of whom are election critics, in a 2-2, party-line vote last week. Three Democrats on the seven-person commission had been absent at the time of the vote.
The Democrats tried to sound all high-minded and virtuous for defying the choose. Commissioners Dana Barrett and Mo Ivory spoke from the steps of the Fulton County Superior Court before the ruling:
“I understood that when I voted there might be consequences for my actions,” Barrett said. “So I will face those consequences with my head held high, because I do not cast my vote for people who are actively working to undermine our elections.”
Sounds good, but it may cost you $10,000 a day.
Georgia Republican activist and one of the targets of Fani Willis’ campaign, Amy Kremer, tweeted her congratulations:
