The music streaming platform has launched a new “Messages” characteristic that permits users to share music, podcasts and audiobooks with others without having to depart the app.
The characteristic will start rolling out to both free and premium users aged 16 years and older in “select markets” this week, according to a press release.

Messages can be used by tapping the share icon when in the Now Playing view and deciding on a pal to share the content with.
People shall be ready to share and start messages with people they share a Spotify plan with or users they’ve beforehand interacted with through Spotify via Jams, Blends or Collaborative Playlists.
Once you settle for a message request, you can react with emojis, reply with textual content and share content back and forth. Messages can be accessed by going to your profile in the top left nook of your cell app.
Users can also reject a request, block users or choose out of Messages fully.
Spotify said that “users have told us they want a dedicated space within the app to share songs, podcasts, or audiobooks they’re excited about with friends and family, and an easy way to keep track of recommendations” — but it seems any users are sad about the news.
