GameStop says it’s reopening “select” stores across the nation as company insiders make new investments in the video recreation retailer’s stock.
The company announced on social media that “select” closed stores would start reopening Sept. 11.
GameStop didn’t initially disclose a full checklist of returning places. A company spokesperson told FOX Business that “at least one” store — situated in Brooklyn, Ohio — was half of the initial rollout.
The transfer comes after an prolonged period of store closures and cost-cutting. GameStop has shuttered a whole lot of places in latest years as it has sought to cut back bills and reshape its retail operations.
The reopenings also come as GameStop CEO Ryan Cohen bought 1 million shares of Class A common stock on Sept. 10 at a weighted average price of about $20.38 per share, according to federal regulatory filings.

Collectibles, including trading playing cards, accounted for 45.1% of GameStop’s web gross sales during the company’s most latest quarter, up from roughly 29% for fiscal 2025.
