Gavin Newsoms Trainwreck Answer About Bidens

I’ve to admit it. 

Every time I look at California Gov. Gavin Newsom, I believe of the stereotype of the slick car salesman. My colleague Jennifer Oliver O’Connell refers to him as “Gov. Hair Gel,” and it is so true. Moreover, the hand motions are worse than those of House Minority Leader, Democrat Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (NY-8). They can actually drive a particular person to distraction. 

I believe you see all that, in spades, during his interview with Kristen Welker on NBC’s Meet the Press that aired on Sunday. 

Welker requested him why he needed to be president, and Newsom claimed he did not.

“I don’t,” Newsom claimed. 

“I’m not suggesting I am. It was in response to someone talked about it and I — nothing I dislike more than a politician that sits there and lies to you. And we all just sit there rolling our eyes going, “Give me a break.”

Can I say to that, “Give me a break, Governor?” He’s the guy who doesn’t want to confess he’s going to run, while doing everything to indicate he is. So it’s funny to hear him talking about other politicians lying and rolling their eyes, even as he tries to sell us this and rolls his eyes. 

Then he tripped over another question from Welker. She asked if he ever had concerns about Joe Biden’s capacity. 

The one exception, as it relates to the interplay I had with him, that gave me pause, one, was the fundraiser in Southern California. And all of us have been a little bowled over. But we also have been mindful that he had been in Europe twice in about a week, and for the grace of God go any of us with jet lag and being exhausted. That particular person got here back on that debate evening and that definitely gave all of us pause.

KRISTEN WELKER: If it gave you pause after the controversy why did not you sound the alarm then?

Newsom said he did “privately.”

KRISTEN WELKER: Governor, did you legitimately consider that he was succesful of serving as president until January of 2029?

GOV. GAVIN NEWSOM: Yeah, I believe my focus was, frankly, situational. It was making sure Donald Trump did not get back into workplace, to expertise every thing that we’re experiencing today. And there was no interplay I had that prompt in any other case.

We may speak about Joe Rogan. We may speak about woke. We may speak about the 107 days. We may speak about the shortage of an open major. We may speak about “The View.” Again, I’m on web page six of the 24 pages. And how you unpack that, how you stack that in phrases of every thing, I believe wants still a little bit more forensics, a little more analysis.

Of course, he did miss that she was a horrible candidate, popping out of an administration that had been a failure. So that’s a bit of a drawback. 

Welker requested him about Harris showing to grouse in her guide about him not calling her back when she called for an endorsement after Biden dropped out of the race. 

KRISTEN WELKER: In her guide, the previous vice president writes that she scrambled to attain outstanding Democrats hours after President Biden exited the race. And she said that you responded to her call, quote, by saying, “Gavin Newsom: ‘Hiking. Will call back.’ He never did.” Is that what occurred?
