Susanna Reid has shared that she and her co-star, Ed Balls, will likely be taking a lengthy break from Good Morning Britain. The pair are going on their summer season break, leaving room for short-term replacements.

Taking to Instagram, the 55-year-old shared a snap exhibiting that she was already in chill mode as she wore a pair of slippers in the studio. She explained to followers that she and Ed can be off air until September now as she wrote: “SHOES OFF, OUT OF OFFICE ON! Time for my summer break.” Susanna then shared that one of their colleagues is also leaving the ITV breakfast show utterly as she went on: “But also time to say goodbye to our wonderful Director @stuearl who has been the champion of this programme for a decade. Thank you for everything Stuart.”

Throwing a sly dig at Reform politician Robert Jenrick, the presenter continued: ” @edballs and I will be back September 1st after our travels. THANK YOU to our amazing viewers for watching and for contacting us and sharing your views – never a ‘waste of time’ being on this brilliant programme [wink emoji] and thanks to everyone on Team @gmb.”

It comes as the politician was caught in a very awkward scorching mic second at the end of an interview with the duo on Wednesday morning.

During their chat, Robert had clashed with Ed, a former Labour cupboard minister, and Susanna over a £5million present Nigel Farage acquired from a cryptocurrency billionaire.

During the combative interview, Ed requested: “You were reportedly warned a number of times that this was a breach of electoral law, hence this police investigation.

“What is the standing of that police investigation? Are you co-operating? What do you assume the end result will likely be, and when will that stain on your fame has been lifted?”

Robert replied: “There’s no stain on my fame, Ed. This is a full smear that’s been put about by the Tory social gathering.”

As the interview wrapped up, Ed said: “Robert Jenrick, that may be very clear, thanks very a lot certainly for becoming a member of us this morning.”

And then, as Susanna tried to move the programme along by letting viewers know what was still to come, Robert, who was no longer on the screen, could be heard saying: “Well, that was a waste of time.”

Ed quickly hit back as he said: “I feel it wasn’t a waste of time. I feel Robert Jenrick gave us very clear solutions on the police investigation.

“It’s not a waste of time for him to make clear that he believes there’s no police investigation. So, it was good he came on the programme.”
