Holly Holm comes up short in WBA lightweight title | MMA News
Former UFC girls’s bantamweight titleholder multiple-time former boxing champion Holly Holm tried to win another boxing world title on Saturday but got here up short against WBA lightweight champion Stephanie Han in Puerto Rico.
The bout was stopped in the seventh spherical after Han acquired a cut due to an unintended conflict of heads. After checking the cut, the ringside doctor called a halt to the match. At the time of the cut, Han was nicely forward on the scorecards.
Han outworked and outlanded the 44 year-old Holm commonly discovering a home for her proper hand counter.

The judges formally scored the struggle 68-65, 69-65, and 69-64 for Han, scoring seven of the scheduled 12 rounds.
“Things like this happen in boxing. I’m so happy, you have no idea. It’s not the way I wanted, but a win is a win. I want to thank you, Holly. You’re an absolute legend, and if you want a rematch, let’s do it in El Paso, let’s do it in Albuquerque. I would love to fight you again. I have nothing but respect for you. You’re an absolute legend, I’ve always looked up to you. Thank you,” Han said after the win.
Holm said she ‘absolutely’ wants a rematch and felt like she would have been effective in the later rounds, if the fight hand gone that far.
“Not being able to finish it was the hardest part. She had a lot of volume and I was kind of waiting for those later rounds to kind of take over, and you can’t do that when things happen. I didn’t want it to end like that,” said Holm.
“Absolutely (I want a rematch). Nobody wants a fight to end like that. I don’t.”
Holm, a boxing legend, was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2017. She defended her titles 18 instances in three different weight courses.
