A person who works on Silent Witness has opened up about what the stars of the show are actually like behind the scenes. The long-running BBC crime drama is presently filming its thirtieth season, having launched in 1996. Emilia Fox joined the show in its eighth season in 2004 as Dr Nikki Alexander and was joined by David Cave as Jack Hodgson in sequence 16 in 2013. Fans are closely invested in their characters, who are a couple on screen.

Birmingham native Declan Kincaid, 32, is presently working as a supporting artist on the show, and he opened up about what the pair are actually like behind the scenes. Speaking solely to Express.co.uk Declan, who is presently filming for sequence 30, having featured in the current sequence 29, said: “I have more of an interaction with the stars this year than I did last year, but that’s just by chance,” he said.

“However, when we’re not filming, we are having lunch, and so obviously I am sitting and rubbing shoulders with the cast behind the scenes, as well as in front of the camera.

In news that is sure to delight viewers, he said: “The main stars are great people, and they’re still more than skilled, heat and welcoming whenever they are met with a fan.”

Although the show deals with some very dark stories, he insists it’s actually a nice vibe on set. “In phrases of the environment, it may be cold filming outdoors in the darkish.

“It’s a slow area to work in, because it takes so long to film different shots from different angles. But it’s still a great atmosphere, and I quite like the adrenaline of the more energetic TV drama.

Declan has worked on numerous shows during his career, including Coronation Street, Casualty and This Morning, and he is as comfortable in behind-the-scenes roles as well as on screen. Given the nature of his employment, it is unsurprising that he admits he does get people asking him to procure them souvenirs.

“There are a lot of people who do need autographs. I do attempt and help people. I do attempt and pull strings. But it isn’t my place to get too concerned. I’m there to do a job,” he said.

He continued: “I have to be skilled as effectively. But you know, if by likelihood I can help a good friend, I’ll always attempt and do that in phrases of getting an autograph.

“But in terms of people on the street who might be hanging around at the edge of the set, I have to remain professional at all times, obviously.”
