I’m A Celebrity’s Martin Kemp has given a rare glimpse into his marriage, revealing the heartbreaking purpose why his spouse struggled to conceive. The 64-year-old singer and actor has been married to WHAM! singer, Shirlie Kemp, for practically 4 a long time.

They exchanged vows in 1988 on the island of St Lucia, only to later uncover they lacked the required legal paperwork. Martin has since opened up about why their marriage ceremony day held further significance for them.

During Sunday night time’s episode of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! he shared that his spouse had problem conceiving due to her battle with endometriosis, studies Daily Star.

However, after years of battle, they conceived their eldest youngster, Harleymoon, on their marriage ceremony night time. In a touching second, Martin spoke candidly about his marriage after Vogue Williams talked about she’d been wed to Spencer Matthews for eight years.

He reminisced: “I got married in St Lucia on a clifftop overlooking the Caribbean with just three people.” He then quipped: “If you looked into it more, you’d find we’re not married.”

Offering a glimpse into his practically four-decade-long marriage to Shirlie, he said: “Shirlie is everything for me, everything I do in my life, I do it for her.”

He also revealed that before they bought hitched, while Shirlie was making an attempt to conceive, she confronted challenges due to endometriosis. “Then, on the night we got married – kaboom,” he added.

Emmerdale‘s Lisa Riley chimed in, commenting: “Meant to be!” However, Martin proceeded to share the surprising steering he and Shirlie once acquired from her mother and father.

Shirlie’s mum had requested at the time: “Now, have you tried the wheelbarrow? It’s a position, imagine you’re lifting someone up, hands on the floor.”

The revelation prompted laughter all spherical as Ruby Wax acted out the place. Martin and Shirlie went on to welcome their eldest daughter Harleymoon in 1989, adopted by son Roman Kemp 4 years afterwards.

Now 36, Harleymoon has cast a profession as a singer-songwriter, amassing 113k Instagram followers. The musician has also made tv appearances and lately accompanied her brother Roman on the third sequence of Celebrity Race Across The World.

Meanwhile, 32-year-old Roman has carved out his own path in broadcasting. The One Show host, radio character and podcast presenter rose to prominence during his stint on the Capital FM breakfast programme from 2017 to 2024.

He’s also featured on Celebrity Gogglebox alongside his dad, as effectively as their own show Martin and Roman’s Weekend Best!
