Kelly Osbourne’s fiancé shares a lot in common with her well-known dad Ozzy. While one of the pair is a former Black Sabbath frontman who wants no introduction, the opposite is also a heavy metallic star, with Sid Wilson serving as the DJ and keyboardist for Slipknot. Kelly has a two-year-old son with Sid, and he thought he had discovered the right second to suggest to her – backstage at her dad’s remaining farewell gig at Birmingham’s Villa Park on July 5.

However, the pair had not bargained on the Prince of Darkness’s response, with Ozzy yelling out during the emotional second: “profanity off, you’re not marrying my daughter!” Fortunately, everyone – including Kelly’s mum Sharon, who was also present – saw the funny side of the blunt rebuttal and exploded into laughter. The 48-year-old Slipknot star then continued his proposal, undeterred as he told Kelly: “You know I really like you more than something. Nothing would make me happier than spending the remaining of my life with you.”

The proposal was painstakingly thought out, as Sid presented her with a very unique personalised engagement ring.

The late comedian Joan Rivers had once been incredibly close with Kelly after the pair worked on the US TV show Fashion Police together – and Sid found a touching way of honouring Joan’s nickname for her.

The Emmy Award-winning talk show host, who died in 2014 at the age of 81, always called her “Honeybee” – and that’s a tradition that Sid continued.

When he met jewellery boss Pascal Mouawad, he asked for a diamond that would link to the “wonderful coincidence” of the nickname both of them had for Kelly.

The result was an 18K yellow gold ring with both white and yellow diamonds, designed within a beehive and honeycomb structure. Sid could not disguise his emotion when he saw the finished product, blinking back tears.

The pair have been together for over three and a half years, formalising their romance in January 2022. However, Kelly previously told US Weekly that she was not necessarily interested in marriage.

“I discovered my man. We do not need the certificates,” she explained, adding: “I’ve worn so many stunning clothes and had so many moments that have been just about me, so that entire thought of a massive day is not as important to me.”

However, she explained that she would marry him anyway because she knew how much the romantic gesture would mean to him. There is one thing that she does not need to deliberate on – she “positively desires more infants”.

Meanwhile, fans have joked that Sid has an “uncanny” resemblance to her dad, to the point that he will “match proper in” within the family.

“Never in a million f****** years did I believe I’d finish up with a rock star associate,” Kelly exclaimed. “But I did.”
