The acclaimed actor Jamie Foxx delivered a heartfelt speech at the 2025 BET Awards, admitting that he could have been part of the “in memoriam could have been me” segment.
At the annual event, Jamie was bestowed with the prestigious ‘Ultimate Icon’ award for his extraordinary career in Hollywood, an honor presented by music legend Stevie Wonder.
This accolade is given at the BET Awards to acknowledge individuals who have made significant and enduring contributions to the entertainment industry.
Reflecting on the stroke he suffered last year, Jamie confessed: “When I saw that ‘In Memoriam’ I was like ‘man that could’ve been me.’ But I don’t know why I went through what I went through but I know my second chance I’m not going to turn down.”
Expressing his faith in divine providence, the Back in Action star added: “I’m not going to turn down, I have so much love to give. I told him I said ‘man, bro, just give me one more crack at this.’ And I promise I said ‘Whatever reason you put this on me I promise imma do right.'”.
After delivering an emotive address at the BET Awards, supporters flocked to X, previously known as Twitter, to express their admiration for the talented actor and wish him ongoing wellness and success.
