Jimmy Kimmel met his wife on his show and he | TV Shows

Comedian Jimmy Kimmel has been in the news currently after his discuss show Jimmy Kimmel Live! was suspended from ABC’s lineup after the host made feedback about the death of right-wing political commentator Charlie Kirk. Disney announced on Monday that the show can be back on air, following some “thoughtful conversations” with Kimmel.

“Last Wednesday, we made the decision to suspend production on the show to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country,” the company acknowledged. “It is a decision we made because we felt some of the comments were ill-timed and thus insensitive. We have spent the last days having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday.”

However, Sinclair Broadcast Group, the largest proprietor of ABC stations in the nation, said that it still wouldn’t air the show on its 38 ABC affiliate stations.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! has been instrumental in the comic’s rise to mainstream fame. Kimmel also met his wife Molly McNearney on the show.

McNearney started working on the show as a author’s assistant in 2004, as per Glamour. She turned the show’s co-head author in 2008, and began a romantic relationship with Kimmel in 2010. 

“All the writers would socialize after the show, and we would just hang out more and more. We really liked each other as friends, and then it just kind of turned. He cooked for me, and that was it. It sealed the deal,” McNearney told Glamour.

But issues weren’t precisely romantic when the 2 first crossed paths.

“When I first met him, he insulted me,” McNearney shared during an interview with Glamour. “The executive producer brought me into his office and said, ‘This is Molly; she’s my new assistant.’ Jimmy barely looked up from his desk until my EP said, ‘She competes in triathlons,’ and then Jimmy looked up at me and said, ‘That is really stupid! What a waste of time.'”

After three years of courting, Kimmel popped the query when the pair have been on trip in South Africa’s Kruger National Park.

The couple now have two kids, daughter Jane and son William “Billy” John. Kimmel also has two kids from his first marriage, Katie and Kevin.
