Kid Rock has returned to social media after he was branded “repulsive” over lyrics in his 2001 song Cool, Daddy Cool.
Kid Rock posted a quote from Kobe Bryant which described “Mamba Mentality.” It read, “Learn to love the hate. Embrace it. Enjoy it. You earned it.
“Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and everybody ought to have one about you. hostilityrs are a good downside to have. Nobody hates the nice ones. They hate the great ones.”
Kid Rock’s social media return came following criticism of Cool, Daddy Cool, which was released in 2001 as part of the soundtrack for the animated children’s movie Osmosis Jones.
As well as the lyrics about underage girls, the song also featured the lines, “You know I bought that gangsta lean / Hoes, they all adore me, I stop and they all swarm me / To take a look at all my fly gold rings / They deal with me just like the mayor ‘trigger I’m the most important participant.”
The song has been getting shared on social media after Kid Rock was announced as the headliner of Turning Point USA’s rival Super Bowl halftime show, following outrage over the NFL’s choice of Bad Bunny.
Kid Rock, real name Robert James Ritchie, will perform at Turning Point USA’s alternative Super Bowl halftime show, dubbed The All-American Halftime Show, on Sunday, February 8. The 55-year-old will be joined by Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice and Gabby Barrett at the event.
“Not a good look…” one critic on X posted alongside a screengrab of the song’s lyrics.
“MAGA has to be the best dwelling contradiction of a political social gathering,” another person said following Kid Rock’s help of President Donald Trump.
A 3rd critic admitted, “And with that pic & those lyrics, I just threw up in my mouth,” as someone else hit out, writing, “This is repulsive.”
Another person shared on X, “Fun Fact: Kid Rock once actually sang “I like ’em underage” — including on a song tied to a children’ film soundtrack — but MAGA is upset about Bad Bunny because he speaks Spanish.”
