Klay Thompson wasn’t mad — he was just upset.
The Mavericks guard didn’t maintain back when recounting his fiery postgame exchange with Ja Morant, following the workforce’s 102-96 loss to the Grizzlies on Saturday.
The pair had to be separated by teammates after Morant, sidelined with a calf injury, seemingly called Thompson a “bum.”

The four-time NBA champion calmly provided reporters a veteran-style, verbal smackdown of the oft-embattled Grizzlies star.
“He’s a funny guy,” Thompson said of Morant. “He has a lot to say, all the time, particularly for a man who hardly ever takes accountability. But you already know what, that’s for another day. Nothing of clever depth. It was actually just his operating his mouth. He’s been operating his mouth for a long time.
“It’s funny to run your mouth when you’re on the bench,” Thompson added. “It’s kind of been the story of his career so far, leaving us wanting more. We all want to see him out there and do his best. He’s just been letting a lot of other stuff get in the way of that. … We need our best [NBA] players to be out there. When you’re a star, it comes with a great responsibility. I hate to see that go to waste.”
Thompson, 35, drew from the varied on- and off-the-court points that have overshadowed the 26-year-old All-Star’s play for a lot of his profession — including fixed accidents, a number of suspensions for flashing firearms on social media, and the just lately reported relationship pressure with Memphis head coach Tuomas Iisalo.

At that age, Thompson already had an NBA championship, two Finals appearances, and was the second-best participant on a Warriors squad that recorded the best common season report of all time. And he had also set an NBA report for the most factors scored in a single quarter (37), a mark that still stands to this day.
While enduring one of the worst seasons of his profession, Thompson still led the Mavericks with a season-high 22 factors off the bench with six 3-pointers in Saturday’s contest.
