MAGA figure slams Fox News for slop as he says | TV Shows
A key MAGA figure has turned on Fox News, as he accused the community of blacklisting him.
On Tuesday, May 19, President Donald Trump‘s Republican foe, Rep. Thomas Massie, dubbed Fox News as “slop” in his concession speech after dropping Kentucky’s GOP major to Trump-supported challenger Ed Gallrein.
The 55-year-old politician accused the conservative news channel of banning him for 18 months, only to finally invite him on air on Tuesday. This comes after the president had his own tense second with Fox News during an awkward interview with Sean Hannity.
“By the way, after 18 months of a blackout of not letting me on Fox, they finally let me on Fox today, four hours into the election,” the seven-term Kentucky congressman told supporters, who booed loudly.
“Hey, their slop is selling, so they will keep selling it,” he continued. “But pay attention, I obtained to watch Fox also for the first time in 18 months.”
Earlier Tuesday, Fox News invited Massie onto America’s Newsroom, where he spoke of conservative history and his relationship with Trump voters.
“Most of the people voting for me help President Trump, as I do,” Massie told host Bill Hemmer.
Massie fumbled the Republican primary for Kentucky’s 4th congressional District to Ed Gallrein, a former Navy SEAL and farmer backed by Trump. Gallrein has vowed to help Trump with his agenda in Congress.
The Associated Press announced the race’s winner at 7:54 p.m. on Tuesday night, with Gallrein winning 54.4 percent of the vote.
The election result marks the latest victory for the president amid his ongoing efforts to purge the Republican Party of those he views as not loyal to him.
Several other Republicans have recently been defeated by Trump-endorsed challengers, including Sen. Bill Cassidy in Louisiana and several Indiana state senators who defied him on redistricting.
Massie, who has served in Congress since 2012, was one of the most outspoken former Trump allies. He has pushed for the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files, criticized the war in Iran, and voted against the president’s tax legislation last year.
Still, he tried to convince voters that they could support both him and Trump. However, his race, which was the most expensive U.S. House primary in history, did not succeed.
After losing, Massie took the stage before a crowd that eagerly chanted slogans such as “no more wars” and “America First!”
“We stirred up one thing. There is a craving in this nation for somebody who will vote for ideas over occasion,” Massie said in his speech, which lasted over 20 minutes.
He also criticized loyalty to Trump in Congress, saying, “If the legislative department always votes whichever manner the wind is blowing, then we’ve got mob rule,” he said. However, if lawmakers follow the Constitution, “we’ve got a republic.”
Elsewhere in his speech, Massie said, “When I used to be called a moron at the prayer breakfast, I said, ‘I’m glad I’m in his prayers.’ We weren’t working against Ed Gallrein. We weren’t working against Donald Trump. We have been working for what we imagine in.”
Massie finished his concession speech by teasing a run in 2028, saying, “We’ll discuss about it later.”
The president had repeatedly slammed Massie in recent months, escalating their feud, which first ignited during his first term.
Trump attacked Massie on Truth Social during his campaign, branding him the “worst congressman in U.S. historical past.”
In a Monday, May 18, post urging supporters to vote against Massie, Trump called him a “Weak and Pathetic RINO,” the “Worst ‘Republican’ Congressman in History” and a “completely ineffective LOSER.”
Speaking with reporters after Massie’s defeat, Trump said, “He was a unhealthy man. He deserves to lose.” Meanwhile, White House communications director Steven Cheung said via social media, “Do not ever doubt President Trump and his political energy.”
