Man Wielding a Machete Injures 3 in Bizarre Attack

In a weird incident on Saturday morning, a man wielding a machete reportedly attacked people at the famed Grand Central subway station. That’s when police engaged the person, taking pictures and killing him, according to authorities. At last report, the injured people had been in secure condition at a hospital, and are anticipated to survive.

The episode, on the platform of the 7 practice and then uptown 4, 5 and 6 trains, started just after 9:30 a.m. when the person, who had been seen performing erratically on a subway practice, exited at the Grand Central-42 Street Station and slashed three people on the 2 platforms, according to the police.

Officers responding to the scene repeatedly ordered the person to drop the machete, but he refused to comply, the police said. One of the officers then shot the person, they said.

Emergency medical staff took the three stabbing victims to Bellevue Hospital, where they had been in secure condition and anticipated to survive, the police said.
