Minneapolis: Wild moment federal agents leap out | Political News

Protesters and members of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency clashed once again outdoors of a Hilton Hotel in Minneapolis as tensions continue to run high.

In a video posted to Bluesky, members of ICE will be seen rolling up to the lodge in armored autos as members of the neighborhood held a vigil for 37-year-old Alex Pretti. A journalist on the ground reported that, before authorities arrived, there was a noise demonstration against ICE in the lodge foyer where the agents had been allegedly staying.

The state of affairs appeared to deteriorate quickly as the next clip revealed that members of the Federal Protective Service, a DHS contingent accountable for defending federal buildings, had run into the lodge and deployed tear fuel. It was reported that lodge patrons had been pressured out with their arms up.

One officer, it was famous, sported a bloody nostril. Another video reveals a number of more FPS agents swarming the building and even an armored vehicle arriving to deploy more agents as inexperienced smoke bombs had been deployed by the officers.

Video on X depicted the scene with protesters yelling profanities at the agents as they deployed smoke bombs, flash bangs and even more tear fuel. The renewed stress in the streets of the embattled metropolis comes as many are still reeling from Pretti’s death.

Rising tensions

Pretti was shot and killed Saturday morning by a Border Patrol agent in Minneapolis. It was reported that the unidentified agent has been with law enforcement for 8 years.

Shortly after the taking pictures, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said Pretti “had a weapon on him and multiple, dozens of rounds of ammunition, wishing to inflict harm on these officers coming, brandishing like that and impeding their work that they were doing.” She additional added, “This individual went and impeded their law enforcement operations, attacked those officers.”

The conflict also comes as President Trump has announced his administration will probably be “reviewing” all the pieces to do with the death of Pretti. “We’re looking, we’re reviewing everything and will come out with a determination,” the president said when requested by the Wall Street Journal.

“I don’t like any shooting. I don’t like it,” Trump added. “But I don’t like it when somebody goes into a protest and he’s got a very powerful, fully loaded gun with two magazines loaded up with bullets also. That doesn’t play good either.”

Trump did not answer the outlet’s question about whether the unidentified agent would face charges. The outlet reported that the president also seemed to signal that ICE was no longer needed to maintain a presence.

“At some level, we’ll depart. We’ve performed, they’ve performed a phenomenal job,” he said, not offering a timetable for the withdrawal. When pressed about when the agents would depart, Trump touted the accomplishments his administration has made while occupying the town.

“We’ll leave a different group of people there for the financial fraud,” he said, once again, not going into any element. In the past, the president has pointed to the alleged citywide fraud as the explanation for ramping up his immigration enforcement.

“It’s the biggest fraud anyone has seen,” he said before including, “We really suppose California goes to be a lot larger.” During the interview, Trump once again asserted that Pretti, an ICU nurse, was carrying a “very dangerous gun, a dangerous and unpredictable gun.”

“It’s a gun that goes off when people don’t comprehend it,” Trump stated. It was reported by the Department of Homeland Security that Pretti was carrying a 9mm semiautomatic handgun.
