The NAACP Image Awards skilled major technical points when Abbott Elementary star Quinta Brunson delivered her heartfelt speech.
The 57th NAACP Image Awards — which is an annual ceremony offered by the American-based National Association for the Advancement of Colored People to honor excellent performances in movie, tv, theater, music, and literature — nominated the celebs of Abbott Elementary, The Bear, and The Residence for Outstanding Actress. After the ABC star heard her identify, she walked up to the rostrum, smiling, and gave a heartfelt speech. This was her sixth win at the awards ceremony.
During the CBS broadcast from Pasadena Civic Auditorium on February 28, she said, “Thank you, NAACP, again.
“I’m very appreciative. Feels better this yr than others. I really feel like now we have watched some of our Black members of our household under assault in this world.
“And it feels really good to come into this room. And celebrate our blackness. Let me take this opportunity to thank ABC and to thank our cast and crew. We just wrapped yesterday.
“So I’m going to take this for us! Quick shout-out. I hadn’t ready something for this. Ummm, so I’m talking from the guts, do a fast shout-out to the forged of Sinners. We see you. We are behind you…”
All of a sudden, the screen cut to black. The words, “Experiencing Technical Issues,” appeared. When the technical issues were over and the feed came back, the TV star went on, “We love you!”
“All proper, everyone! Have a great evening!” she finished and walked off stage.
The show went on as Cynthia Erivo, Doechii, Kendrick Lamar, Michael B. Jordan, and Teyana Taylor are all nominated for Entertainer of the Year.
Black-ish actor Deon Cole served as host once more.
The couple announced a Digital Civil Rights Award as they were standing together at their Montecito home.
In the video, the Suits actress wore a white turtleneck sweater with her long dark hair styled in loose curls.
Harry wore a white shirt paired with a dark blazer.
The pair offered the NAACP-Archewell Digital Civil Rights Award, which honored pioneers working at the crossroads of technology and social justice.
Dr. Mary Anne Franks obtained the award for her exemplary work with the Cyber Civil Rights Initiative.
Back in 2022, the duke and duchess obtained the NAACP president’s award for their efforts supporting a Texas ladies’s shelter, their advocacy for COVID vaccine equity, and a partnership to set up neighborhood reduction facilities.
