NBC viewers have been left livid as components of the Epstein information have been redacted despite a stringent denial from Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche.
NBC confirmed Section 2(b)(1) of the Epstein Files Transparency Act, studying: “No record shall be withheld, delayed, or redacted on the basis of embarrassment, reputational harm, or political sensitivity, including to any government official, public figure, or foreign dignitary.”
After which, the host requested the DAG whether or not “anything had been redacted on that basis”, to which he responded: “Absolutely, positively, not.”
He doubled down, stressing the allegations of redactions have been just “another trend that is simply false”, explaining there have been a quantity of images “pulled down” after their release on Friday.
Explaining the reasoning for this, the DAG said: “That’s because, a judge in New York has ordered us to listen to any victim or any victim rights group, if they have any concerns about the material we’re putting up.
“And so, when we hear concerns, whether it’s photographs of women that we do not believe are victims or we didn’t have information to show that they were victims, but we learned that there are concerns, of course we’re taking that photo down, and we’re going to redress it and redact faces or other information, we will and then we’ll put it back up.
“So, we are in every way, shape, and form complying with the statute, which by the way is what President Trump has been asking us to do since before he was elected.
“There’s nothing that he has to hide in the Epstein files, there never was, and even though there’s repeated attempts by Democrats to paint him as being part of the Epstein saga, it’s failing over and over again and so you should not be surprised that the material we released on Friday or the material we’re going to release over the next couple of weeks is exactly what the Statute requires us to release.”
NBC followers have been fast to categorical their emotions on the DAG’s feedback, with one individual writing: “Dude! I’m looking at page after oage that’s totally blacked out. You can’t be serious with this one.”
One other individual questioned: “Why are there redactions on focuments that are already public without redactions? Do they ever not lie??”
A 3rd individual merely said: “I don’t believe him”, while another queried “when are the arrests gonna happen”.
Thousands of paperwork relating to the lifeless paedophile financier, Epstein, have been made public by the Department of Justice (DOJ) on Friday – hours before a legal deadline following the passing of the Epstein Files Transparency Act.
Many of the pages have been either partially or totally redacted, with the DOJ sticking to their assertion the redactions are to shield the more than 1,200 victims and their households recognized in them.
Some of Epstein’s victims, legal consultants and members of the public have questioned whether or not this is the only motive for the redactions.
Ashley Rubright, who was abused for a number of years after assembly Epstein in Palm Beach when she was just 15-years-old, said: “Seeing completely redacted pages, there’s no way that that’s just to protect the victims; identities, and there better be a good reason. I just don’t know if we’ll ever know what that is.”
Gloria Allred, an attorney who has represented some of Epstein’s victims, said she was told despite the heavy redactions, some compromising footage of survivors and their names have been left in the information.
She said: “We have had to notify the DOJ about names that should have been redacted that weren’t redacted. So this is further trauma to survivors, and apparently also some of the images of some of the survivors appear not to have been redactedd, and they are nude or not completely dressed.
“This is a major concern because the law clearly indicates, and the judges have indicated, that the names and any identifying information of the survivors must be redacted.”
