NCIS veteran Michael Weatherly has reunited with Cote de Pablo for their spin-off NCIS Tony and Ziva which followers have been ready for more than a decade for.

NCIS Tony and Ziva debuted on Paramount+ earlier this month, telling the next chapter of Tony DiNozzo (performed by Michael Weatherly) and Ziva David’s (Cote de Pablo) lives in Paris.

The long-awaited spin-off comes 5 years after it was found that Ziva had really faked her death in Israel before she was reunited with Tony and their daughter Tali (Isla Gie).

Talking to Screen Time, Weatherly divulged what it has been like reprising their iconic roles.

He started: “The hero’s journey for both Ziva and Tony and as a unit with them and Tali, the heroic epic cycle of their adventure, stepping back into that, you have deja vu, you have nostalgia, you have a little bit of a creaky sense of time.

“But it was like a dream house where you visit where you grew up and it’s not quite the same as you remember but you have a lot of feelings about it.”

Weatherly continued to describe: “It’s almost like an album.

“There’s 10 episodes and each one is a song of its own and we are exploring what it means to rebuild trust and move past this truce that Tony and Ziva have entered, this fragile treaty between them.

“And that gets ruptured by this hacker attack and all the intrigue and disaster that follows and putting their child in jeopardy and their own lives.

“They have to figure out a way forward together so it’s a challenge.”

In an sudden twist in the fifth episode of NCIS Tony and Ziva, it was found that their buddy Henry (James D’Arcy) at Interpol wasn’t really the double-crosser after all.

In fact, it was his boss, the Secretary General of Interpol, Jonah (Julian Ovenden) who was behind it all who then ends up fatally stabbing and capturing Henry.

D’Arcy told USA Today that this ending was significantly bittersweet for him because of his off-screen connection with Ovenden.

He remarked: “Jonah, who killed me twice, is played by my best friend Julian Ovenden.

“I used to be the best man at Julian’s wedding ceremony. I’m the godparent to one of his youngsters. He’s godparent to one of mine.

“And the glee on his face as he stabbed me and then shot me was sheer unadulterated pleasure.

“He even begged for another take. It variety of ruined my day.”

NCIS Tony and Ziva continues every Friday on Paramount+.
