NCIS star Michael Weatherly talks fun dynamic | TV Shows
NCIS stalwart Michael Weatherly has shared insights into the “wonderful” rapport he shares with his co-star Cote de Pablo.
For years, NCIS followers have been clamoring for a spin-off centered around former brokers Tony DiNozzo (portrayed by Michael Weatherly) and Ziva David (Cote de Pablo). Earlier this month, their goals finally turned actuality.
Five years post their off-screen reunion in Paris, Paramount+’s NCIS Tony and Ziva depicts the duo not as a couple but as co-parents to their daughter Tali (Isla Gie).
However, their flirtatious yet harmonious dynamic is disrupted when Tony’s security firm comes under risk, forcing them to flee.
As NCIS Tony and Ziva continues to unfold weekly, Screen Time caught up with Weatherly to talk about reuniting with De Pablo and what makes their bond so distinctive.Â
“I’m a fan of all the work everyone did on the show”, Weatherly began.
“I had been acting for over a decade when I started the show [NCIS] and so I knew the difference from something that felt good or felt bad and something that was resonating with an audience.
“It’s true with Cote [de Pablo] that you could possibly really feel we had a actually fun dynamic and when that interprets to an viewers and grow to be enamored with a couple – ‘transport’ the couple – then you’re in for a actually great, fortunate experience.”
The inaugural season of NCIS Tony and Ziva continues to air on Paramount+ every week, but fans are already contemplating its future.
Nevertheless, there’s currently no confirmation that NCIS Tony and Ziva will get renewed for a second season.
When questioned about the show’s future, de Pablo revealed to TV Insider: “We’re just grateful that we obtained a probability to do it, and the remainder is the remainder. If we obtained a probability to do it again, we might be thrilled.”
At the same time, showrunner John McNamara stated: “I strive never to depend my chickens before they’re hatched.
“I’m just focused on finishing this season and trying to make it as good as possible.
“And actually, it’s going to be solely up to the followers and the subscribers to Paramount+ and finally to Paramount and CBS. It’s their property and it is their money.”
NCIS Tony and Ziva continues every Friday on Paramount+.
