Netflix star dies aged 46 after on-set collapse left | UK News

Jeon Seung-jae tragically died aged 46. The South Korean actor’s death was confirmed on Wednesday (July 29) after it was revealed that his funeral altar had been set up in Special Room 3 at Shillakwon Gyeonggi (*46*) Home in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province. The star’s health took a stunning and sudden decline in 2024 after he collapsed on set while filming for the TV drama, Koryeo-Goran War. It was later revealed that Jeon had suffered a mind haemorrhage and undergone emergency surgical procedure, and was positioned in a coma, but had sadly never regained consciousness.

Initially, the news that Jeon was preventing for his life was not made public until three months after his fall, which sparked a large outpouring of well-wishes from followers and fellow actors who seemed ahead to his recovery. At that time, Jeon’s co-stars, Park Ji Yeon and Seong Do Hyun, despatched prayers and shared a donation hyperlink. They informed followers: “Please send your prayers for him to give him strength. Small acts of sincerity are most needed right now. Please join hands to help him.” Now, have been left heartbroken as the news of his death circulated on social media.

Taking to X/Twitter, one fan penned: “Too sad. Rest In Peace.” A second fan grieved: My deepest condolences. Mourning once again for the world of Korean cinema.”

“My condolences to all who knew him, particularly his household. May he relaxation in peace,” added another.

As a fourth shared: “This is soooo unhappy. I’m heartbroken by this news. RIP Jeon Seung-jae.”

When the actor was admitted into the hospital, his devastated older sister, Jeon Seong-young, told StarNews: “My youthful brother had no major abnormalities during his health checkup just last December and had no issues with his bodily condition in normal. It was so sudden.”

Jeon began his acting career in the 2004 film Taegukgi: The Brotherhood of War, and since then, he has built up his respectable filmography with appearances in films such as Bokmyeon Dalho, Netflix‘s The Good, The Bad, The Weird, and Haeundae.

He also starred in Hello Ghost, The Age of Shadows, and Along with the Gods: The Last 49 Days, while also touchdown roles in TV dramas such as Splendid Politics and High Kick Through the Roof.

Jeon famously starred in Netflix’s hit South Korean sequence The Good, The Bad and The Weird, which follows a couple of outlaws and a bounty hunter who are chased by the Japanese military and a group of Chinese bandits while looking out for a map that leads to treasure.

It has now been confirmed that a funeral procession might be held at 6am on the thirty first of July.
