New Jim Morrison documentary opens the lid on his | Music News
A new documentary about The Doors’ late frontman Jim Morrison is set to open the lid on the long-debated conspiracy concept that he faked his own death.
Apple TV’s Before The End, created by Jeff Finn (a self-proclaimed Doors super-fan), is a fan-led movie that explores, analyzes, and challenges the circumstances surrounding Morrison’s premature death in 1971 of coronary heart failure.
For a long time, followers have long speculated about his passing, particularly since there have been witnesses however no post-mortem. Now the new doc will offer “evidence” that he may nonetheless be alive below the disguise of “Frank” or “Frank X,” who works in maintenance in Syracuse, New York.
“Frank” was apparently pictured with The Doors’ drummer John Densmore in 2013 and admitted to liking many of the same things as Morrison.
Finn made the documentary through his own company and has spent almost 40 years researching Morrison.
At the beginning of the series, Finn says he believes “Frank” is likely another superfan with physical similarities to Morrison.
On July 3, 1971, Morrison was found dead in the bathtub of his Paris apartment at approximately 6:00 a.m by his girlfriend, Pamela Courson, with whom he lived. He was 27 years old.
The official cause of death was listed as heart failure, although no autopsy was performed as it was not required by French law.
Courson claimed that Morrison’s last words, as he was bathing, were: “Pam, are you continue to there?”
While she was a witness, conflicting accounts from that night and the following morning have sparked confusion in fans.
Some believe these inconsistencies are due to Courson’s drug addiction and the possible influence of the nightclub Morrison had visited before his death, according to Far Out.

According to several musicians who were at the club with Morrison during that night, he had taken heroin sold by a dealer called Jean de Breteuil.
This was later confirmed by Marianne Faithfull, who also alleged that Breteuil had gone to see Morrison and “killed him”.
She said: “I mean, I’m sure it was an accident. Poor bastard. The smack was too strong? Yeah. And he died.”
Doors guitarist Robby Krieger also told The Independent that the circumstances of Morrison’s death seemed odd because that was how it was at the time, with no “rehabs or any of that stuff.”
He also said that they had tried to help Morrison with his addiction, “but it never worked and we were hoping that when he went to Paris that would be a whole different vibe and maybe he would clean himself up.”
Krieger added: “That’s what he said, but that’s pretty tough to do on your own [and] unfortunately the opposite happened.”
Sam Bernett, founder and manager of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Circus night club, stated that he had found Morrison unconscious in the club’s bathrooms after a purported heroin overdose around 2:00 a.m. and that his body was taken away from the club by two men supposed to be the drug dealers.
Since there was no autopsy, these statements could never be confirmed.
Music journalist Ben Fong-Torres claimed that his death was kept a secret, and the reporters who had telephoned Paris were told that Morrison was not dead but resting at a hospital.
Morrison’s friend, film director Agnès Varda, admitted that she was the one who was responsible for hiding the incident from becoming public.
In her final interview earlier than her death in 2019, Varda confirmed that she was one of the solely 4 mourners to attend Morrison’s burial.
