Not Going to See His Like Again – RedState

Daily Wire Opinion Editor Ben Domenech appeared on the panel of “Fox News Sunday With Shannon Bream,” and provided a touching homage to Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), who died unexpectedly early Sunday, reportedly due to coronary heart failure prompted by an aortic dissection, resultant from underlying coronary heart disease.

Correspondent Gillian Turner subbed for host Bream, and opened the panel with the dialogue of Graham’s death. Turner let Domenech reply first, given his personal historical past with South Carolina and Graham.

Domenech also alluded to Graham’s compelling origin story. Both Graham’s mother and father handed away within 15 months of each other, and as a younger man still in faculty, Graham raised, and later adopted, his teenage sister. Graham not only accomplished faculty and law college, but served in the United States Air Force as a decide advocate basic (JAG), before getting into politics in 1992, first in the state House of Representatives, and then the United States House of Representatives in 1994. In 2002, Graham was elected to the United States Senate, filling the seat vacated by Sen. Strom Thurmond (D/R-SC) who served 47 years in the Senate before retiring at 100 years previous. 

Domenech continued:

While Domenech didn’t relate this full story, Domenech acknowledged the impact Graham’s life of personal fortitude, pulling oneself up by their own bootstraps, and testomony to his noble character in raising his teenage sister, was admired and appreciated by this son of South Carolina. 

Domenech concluded: 

You know, I used to be pondering this morning, I woke up to feed our six-month previous at three in the morning. I do not always test my cellphone, but this time I did, and I noticed this. And it was a shock to me, I woke up my spouse and I told her.

The factor that I used to be pondering about the most was, you understand, I used to sit at the end of a desk in Arizona with John McCain and Joe Lieberman, and Lindsey, and we’d argue about the world. And I might disagree with Lindsey a lot, but he was still pleasant about it. And he was still charming, and humorous. 

They’re all gone now. I stay. But it is one of these issues that is still very a lot a touching reminiscence to me, because these are people who cared deeply about this nation. Who cared deeply about its function in the world. And, we live in an period where politics is ephemeral. Where people principally come into it as influencers. What hit me in Domenech’s homage have been the phrases, “they’re all gone now. I remain.” Among  the Three Amigos, those have been phrases Lindsey Graham most seemingly spoke after the 2018 death of John McCain from a glioblastoma mind tumor, and the death of Joe Lieberman from problems of a fall in 2024. Now, Graham has exited the pages of historical past, and Domenech stays to bear witness to his legacy and historic impression, as nicely as that of McCain and Lieberman.

Those who adopted them know they affectionately referred to each other as “The Three Amigos”. My Dad was the soul of the group, Joe was the center of the group and Lindsey was the fire and humor. Their mixture bonded them as buddies throughout their lives. That friendship is one thing that is so uncommon in politics, it’s almost extinct but I acquired to witness it first hand. They spent their lives united as buddies and allies. They have been brothers. 

The recollections I’ll maintain pricey of Lindsey is that was always the particular person you hoped you sat next to at a banquet. Charming, very, very, very humorous – like so humorous he actually might have had a profession in stand up comedy. He had an acerbic fast wit and he might win over even his deepest distractors. I hope that he’s at peace and I hope he’s in heaven consuming a white russian and fishing with my Dad and Joe.
