Sky and HBO viewers have been obsessed with a gripping new thriller they’ve called the “best thing on TV right now”.

The addictive crime drama has been airing weekly since the start of September and has been regularly gaining in recognition and acclaim after premiering with an unbelievable 95 p.c rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Not only does it come from the thoughts of the screenwriter behind one of the best thriller sequence of the past few years, but it also boasts a stellar solid of Hollywood and TV A-listers.

Created by Mare of Easttown author Brad Ingelsby, Task stars Mark Ruffalo as FBI agent Tom Brandis, the top of a job drive investigating a string of violent robberies in Philadelphia.

Ozark star Tom Pelphrey portrays refuse collector Robbie Prendergrast, an unassuming household man who by night time robs “trap houses”operated by drug gangs.

Viewers have been enthralled by the seven-episode sequence so far, with more and more followers tuning in each week.

With just two episodes left to go before the drama continues, audiences have been labelling the drama as one of the standout reveals of 2025 you gained’t need to miss.

A latest Reddit post declared: “TASK is PHENOMENAL.”

They continued: “Task is the best show on television and it’s not even particularly close.

“Episode 5 was one of the most phenomenally written, acted, and beautifully shot pieces of cinema I’ve seen in years.

“The scene chemistry between the actors lights up the screen and I’m entirely invested in how this will end for nearly every character and their respective arc within the show.”
