Passport ‘warning’ issued to people traveling between the US and Canada

Canadian officers are warning vacationers they might face entry restrictions when crossing into the United States because of variations in passport gender identifiers.

The issue stems from the use of an “X” gender identifier on Canadian passports, which might be unrecognizable to U.S. border officers, according to the Canadian Department of Global Affairs. The Canadian authorities also notes that people could also be requested to present their intercourse or gender data as either male or feminine when traveling.

This warning follows a January government order by President Donald Trump stating there are only two organic sexes (male and feminine) and that U.S. passport holders must have a passport that displays the intercourse they have been assigned at start.

The determination prompted authorities officers across the globe to warn its residents about traveling if they’re trans, non-binary or maintain a third-gender passport, GWN reported in April.
