Paul Pierce chalked up his Tuesday arrest for suspicion of driving under the affect to him falling asleep behind the wheel since the 47-year-old needed some slumber.

Pierce posted a picture confirmed visitors at a standstill along with his message, although he didn’t point out the allegations of him being under the affect.

“Imagine being stuck in stand still traffic for 45 mins and falling asleep 🤦🏾‍♂️ I took this picture that night because I never been in stand still traffic for this long,” Pierce posted Thursday to Threads. “I’m old, I’m tired, and I fell asleep 🤷🏾‍♂️I’m good y’all thanks for the love.”

Police arrested Pierce late Tuesday in California after they discovered him asleep at 10:30 p.m. inside his SUV on the 101 freeway, the California Highway Patrol said in a assertion as relayed by NBC4.

Officers had attended to a multi-car crash that shut down lanes, but they reportedly observed a Range Rover not shifting after the lanes reopened.

They arrested Pierce on suspicion of driving under the affect of alcohol, and Pierce’s case shall be reviewed by the Los Angeles City Attorney’s workplace.

Pierce reportedly has since been cited and launched from custody.

“When officers approached, they found the driver, later identified as Paul Pierce, asleep at the wheel,” the California Highway Patrol said in their assertion, per NBC.

“Officers noted signs of alcohol impairment and conducted a DUI investigation.”

Pierce, a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame, spent 19 seasons in the NBA, primarily starring for the Celtics from 1998-2013 before his ill-fated commerce to the Nets.
